1992-1993: Built systems, for Kraft/General Foods while an executive at A. C. Nielsen and as senior staff (i.e., top analytic) person at R. R. Donnelley’s Metromail. Systems aided shelf-allocation, pricing, advertising, sales promotion, and direct mail decisions. Also improved profitability of individual food coupon mailing efforts by more than $10 million. At Nielsen was the only Ph.D. on the largest account of the world’s largest marketing research company (i.e., 200 person Kraft/General Foods account) and at Metromail was its Senior Statistician. Many of analytic measurement tools that developed were subsequently made into commercial products, including the Fair Isaac ATP clusters that directly compete against the Claritas PRIZM and CACI ACORN products and the Experian Credit Scoring systems. Also, did work that quickly alerted management to broker and retail thefts, as well as streamlined distribution channels.
1989-1992: Performed business and quality assurance consulting work at Anheuser Busch, Reader’s Digest, and American Airlines. Built sales forecasting systems, market segmentation systems, pricing systems, and customer-targeting systems that led to 8%+ annual growths. Received Ph.D. degree with 3.923 out of 4.000 GPA in 1992, from Saint Louis University’s Graduate School of Business, which had highest ranked part-time MBA program in Missouri and fourteenth best in country according to 2010 U. S. News & World Report rankings.
1986-1988: Managed Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs activities for Con Agra’s Frozen Food headquarters in St. Louis. Was on a career track. Developed and got governmental approval for Healthy Choice concept. Left after company decided to move the division headquarters to Omaha, since had not finished doctoral program at Saint Louis University, which had started during September 1986.
1980-1986: Teaching & Research Assistant. Obtained four publications (including thesis) on protein work at TAMU, after finding that an oral drug treatment of Eli Lilly reduced the incidence of a causative agent in Acute Interstitial Edema and Emphysema, a pulmonary lung disease. Taught nutrition, food & feed formulation, quality assurance, regulatory affairs and food lab analysis courses at TAMU, and then multiple business classes at U of H.
1978-1979: Shift leader at Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus. Battelle Memorial Institute is the leading not-for-profit biomedical think tank in the world. It had facilities in 29 countries. Its international headquarters, as well as major animal research facilities, are located next to Ohio State. Projects worked on led to medical products, such as implantable teeth, that have since been commercialized.
